Shrink Film Troubleshooting FAQ
Common shrink film packaging issues and practical adjustment methods for production troubleshooting.
Problem: Hot air is retained inside the shrink film, causing bulging or inflated areas.
Solutions:
- Increase the number of ventilation holes to accelerate air release from the shrink film.
- Slow down the conveyor or packaging machine speed so the hot air has more time to escape during shrinking.
- Increase the machine temperature appropriately to help air escape from the film.
Problem: The shrink film surface becomes blurred or misty, creating a whitish haze.
Solutions:
- Reduce the shrink tunnel temperature, as excessively high temperature may cause film atomization.
- Increase the conveyor speed of the shrink tunnel to reduce heating contact time.
Problem: Small shrink holes appear on the film surface.
Solutions:
- Reduce the shrink tunnel temperature, as excessively high temperature may cause the film to atomize and break.
- Increase the conveyor speed of the shrink tunnel to reduce heating contact time.
Problem: The sealing line is easy to damage, or small holes appear along the seal.
Solutions:
- Lower the temperature of the sealing blade.
- Adjust the sealing line height to the middle of the product or package height.
- If the sealing blade frame pressure is uneven, adjust the horizontal position of the frame.
- If the heating blade and sealing base are dirty, clean both parts.
Problem: Fisheye-like wrinkles appear on the shrink film surface.
Solutions:
- If the shrink tunnel temperature is too low, increase the temperature.
- If the conveyor speed is too fast, reduce the speed.
- If the circulation air volume of the shrink tunnel is too low, increase the circulation air volume.
Problem: Continuous fine wrinkles appear around corners and edges of the shrink film.
Solutions:
- If there are too many ventilation holes and air escapes too quickly, reduce the number of holes to allow full shrinkage.
- If the conveyor speed is too fast, reduce the speed.
- If the shrink tunnel temperature is too low, increase the temperature.
- If the circulating air of the shrink packaging machine is too low, increase the circulating air volume.
Problem: Triangular protrusions appear at the package corners, commonly known as dog ears.
Solutions:
- If the plastic bag is too large, use a smaller bag.
- If the conveyor speed is too fast, reduce the speed.
- If the circulation air volume is too high, reduce the air volume.
- If the shrink tunnel temperature is too low, increase the temperature.
Problem: The sealing line position is located around the middle of the package height instead of the correct top or bottom position.
Solutions:
- If the sealing conveyor height is incorrect, adjust it to a suitable position.
- If the sealing frame height is incorrect, adjust it to a suitable position.
- If the circulation air direction is incorrect, adjust the air direction.
- If the bag size is too large, use a smaller bag.
